In the application to distributed system, the environment on which application software is running between CPUs cannot be supported by RTOS, although it supplys lots of API functions and service.After researching the fundamental function of RTOS, we have developed a environment called OSS in the networking device which is consist of the distributed systems, which supports the application software well.The target of developing this environment is to build one virtual operating system in which application can run in despite of special hardware and RTOS.In this thesis, at first we discuss the function of the subsystem and bring up a software model. Then we give a detail discuss of the reality of the components of the subsystem, such as process communication, timer control, memory management and the protection from exception. Step by step, we i llustrate what the OSS play in the role of keeping application system running in stably.
