With the deepening of China’s medical reform, the traditional paper-based medical record is difficult to meet the needs of today’s information society, health information technology has attracted more and more attention. So medical record system’s digital is particularly important, and currently the electronic medical record system’s level is still relatively low. Therefore, the in-depth study of electronic medical record systems is particularly important, and electronic medical record editor as the basis and key of electronic medical records system, with very good research value and applied value.This paper mainly introduces the importance of electronic medical record systems and domestic and abroad development situation, describes the concept of electronic medical record editor and main functions, pointing out the shortcomings and deficiencies of the current EHR editor exist. This topic comes from an actual project of medical information technology company, through in-depth analysis on "the hospital information system construction program based on the needs of electronic medical records report " released by the Ministry of Health, and the actual demand of contracted hospital’s electronic medical records system, the "framework and data standards for electronic medical records" as a standard, development of EMR editor with structured features. This EMR editor is divided into the kernel layer and the service layer:the kernel layer using XML technology of structure of features, redevelop on open-source software AbiWord, achieved meet HL7 CDA specification electronic records data to open, edit and save, provide medical data manipulation COM interface to the service layer, while taking advantage of third-party encryption locks encryption algorithm writes records created and the generation process within hardware encryption; the service layer through on kernel layer interface of function package and business logic interface output and implementation EMR interface UI provides business logic, data access, and system functions such as gadgets. This editor has good scalability, reusability, operability and safety. According to the current three major hospitals in the country nearly one year of usage, this EMR editor safe and reliable operation, realized patients share medical information, diagnosis, standard hospital procedures, as well as medical research, teaching and medical instruments provided standardized information. In the end of paper summarizes the technical characteristics of the EMR editor, as well as prospects for future technological development direction and characteristic of the EMR editor.
