As one of the fastest growing technology in the field of information technology, IC(Integrated Circuit) card is playing an increasingly important role in people’s daily life. Among different kinds of IC cards, the contactless IC card has occupied the smart card market rapidly since it appeared by the advantage of its passive and contactless feature. While serial port expansion bus is widely used in the IC card transceiver chip design industry, I2C-bus interface receives more attention due to its simple and effective advantage.FM320is a highly integrated transceiver IC for contactless communication at13.56MHz, supporting various host controller interfaces, including8-bit parallel interface, SPI interface, I2C interface and serial UART interface. Based on a full understanding of the ISO/IEC14443protocol specification and I2C-bus protocol specification, this thesis is mainly devoted to the circuit design and verification for the I2C-bus interface module with effective simulation results. The verification is mainly proceeding by writing data to and reading data from FM320through the I2C interface. It has covered all operating modes of the I2C interface and accomplished simulation for various transmission cases, including the errors which may occur during the transmission. The verification results show that the I2C interface responds correctly by transmitting without error bit, and the typical functional points are proved to be working well. The I2C interface can be correctly working in the chip FM320.
