In this paper, using the youth sub-culture theory, combined with the special context of China, I attempt to explore Hanhan as the representative youth subculture to resist the mainstream culture, by the text analysis of the various media reports about Hanhan. In the Chinese context, by analyzing the image of the news about Hanhan, I try to answer the question that whom Hanhan resists and how he resists. Birmingham Center for Contemporary Cultural Studies suggest that the youth of subculture form their own style by dressing up, behavior, etc. so as to achieve the effect of resistance to mainstream culture. Therefore, this article hopes to sort out the Hanhan's style of resistance to answer whom he resists and how he resists. To some extent, from 1999 till now, Hanhan's behaviors and bearings characterize the symptom and change of the times, which is a good dimension to probe China's social development. In the context of strong power of system in china, Hanhan carries a large number of youth cultural significance. In the process of analysis, I summed up some images of Hanhan from the media reports, such as "citizen", "public intellectual", "alternative writer", "multiple identities", "a person with on group", and interpret the meaning of resistance from the political and cultural dimensions respectively.
