The research project describes the cross-cultural communication process of American TV dramas in China, summarizes the cause of its popularity as well as its effect on Chinese TV drama production, and analyzes the college students' cross-cultural reception of American TV dramas through case studies.The research on one hand helps to understand the internal and external factors of the cross-cultural communication success achieved by American TV dramas, on the other hand, the research helps to understand the audience psychology which can be carried as reference when developing our own show business.The cross-cultural communication of American TV dramas in China cannot be simply considered as Culture Imperialism. The cause of its popularity in China should be analyzed and its advantages should be used as a source of reference by Chinese movie and television industries, thus to enhance the communication of our own cultural products and build a harmonious video culture pattern.
