With the the rapid development of computer technology and Internet, streaming media technology is widely used in video broadcast, video on demand and remote education. However, the traditional C/S structure mode of service easily created bandwidth bottlenecks and performance bottlenecks in the case of mass users. At present, P2P streaming system model is used to solve the bottleneck in the system which are concerned by more and more researchers. How to make full use of the resources of nodes in the P2P networks is a P2P streaming media technology research focus for improving service quality streaming media system and system scalability.From the network topology,we summarize the classification of P2P networks, representative of the typical system and two important P2P streaming media applications:P2P live streaming media systems and P2P streaming media on demand system. Demand for the quality of service, performance improvement mechanism and the implementation are studied for streaming media on demand system. The main tasks are as follows:(1)Several important factors of quality are researched and analyzed in P2P streaming media on demand system, such as the node startup-latency, fast forward and rewind latency, jittering and the server load performances. The importance of optimization and improvement with the cache management mechanism is discussed in P2P streaming media on-demand service. Meanwhile, we analyze the principles of probability caching management mechanism.(2) We deeply study the user behavior features in the interactive streaming media system. User behavior features are deeply analyzed from the lows of user's reaching to the system, the trend of watching the video, VCR operation characteristics etc.(3)We analyze the limitations of probability of caching mechanism from the popularity of block and whether the data perfecting strategy is consistent with characteristics of user behavior, and based on the probability caching management mechanism,though analyzing the user behavior and characteristics in VOD system, optimizing statistical approach of the popularity of streaming media data, we propose the User Behavior Characteristic And Popularity based Probablity Caching mechanism. (4)We simulate the User Behavior Characteristic And Popularity based Probablity Caching mechanism. Though the comparison of playback continuity and VCR jump latency between original probability caching management mechanism and the User Behavior Characteristic And Popularity based Probability Caching mechanism, the paper confirms that the improved probability caching management mechanism can effectively promote these main performances.
