Nowadays, the recognition of university physical culture is still in the material level. However, it is the spiritual culture that is the core of university physical culture and the key to the brand building of university culture. Any sports event can be handed down with culture as its carrier. With the perfection of campus athletic sports, traditional folk sports prevail on the campus. Dragon dance, as a kind of traditional Chinese art, has a long history. It can help people strengthen their bodies, refresh their minds and feast their eyes. All the merits make it one of the excellent traditional Chinese sports events. Universities should carry out the dragon dance sports and build up their unique cultural brand. In this sense, physical education can advance itself and raise the popularity of their university.This thesis employs documentation, expert interviews, site visit, questionnaire and mathematical statistics to make a thorough, deep and careful study on the traditional sports-dragon dance and the brand building of campus physical culture. The results are as follows:1. At present, students have made few studies about the brand of university sports culture. Most of their recognition is superficial and lack of systematical and practical operational ideas.2. The building up process of dragon dance culture of NJUST tells us why it is so successful. In spite of their effective use of opportunity, our dragon dance team makes full use of dragon dance promotion, funding and advantages of intellectuals and technology.3. The brand construction of university sports is beneficial to the socialization of sports, to the brand construction of universities, to the construction of university sports culture and to the promotion of Chinese national culture. It is especially important in the formation of campus sports culture and the raising of university awareness.4. The sports team of a university is a representative of its mental outlook, which reflects the sports culture and overall quality of this university. This kind of spiritual culture is not only confined to dragon dancers, but it falls on every college students as well. In this sense, this team will fulfill its obligation to educate others and promote dragon dance. This helps students and society have a more comprehensive understanding of this dragon dance team, and helps its brand construction.
