The goal of this paper is to study service-learning in American elementary and middle school that arose in 1990s.The basic meaning of service-learning and its development in the U.S. were introduced ; a detailed implementation procedure of the current service-learning methods in the U.S. was shown, which includes assigning attendances, designing a service-learning project, setting goals, reflecting service-learning expriences and evaluation methods ; the influence of service-learning was discussed ; in the end, the potential implication of service-learning in the elementary education curriculum of our country was investigated.This paper is consisted of an introduction part and a body text part. The introduction part introduced background, importance and basic methods of this study.The body text is consisted of five chapters. Chapter 1 introduced the definition, characteristics, and development of service-learning ; chapter 2 described the implementation procedure of service-learning in American elementary and middle school. The procedure includes the following steps : arrangement service-learning attendances,designing a service-learning project,set goals,reflect experiences ; Chapter 3 introduced the evaluation methods of service-learning, including examination, observation, self-evaluation and etc ; Chapter 4 discussed the influence of service-learning ; Chapter 5 considered the implication of service-learning to the problems that appeared in the elementary education curriculum of our country. |
