The paper is the result of a case study, which is about the authority of parents.Parents' authority is the foundation of family education. It is a kind of right possessed by parents. With the right, parents can order their children effectively to arrange or associate children' action.The analysis of parents' authority in the paper falls into two categories: the process analysis and the structure analysis. The former includes the analyses of the generation, the operation and the results of parents' authority. The latter consists of two aspects: the interlacing relationships occurring in the operation process of parents' authority, and the results that parents' authority operates many times. By means of those analyses, I discovered that: it is based on the exchange of resource between parents and child that parents' authority operates and results; that many kinds of authorities operate many times builds up and maintains the structure of parents' authority. I also revealed the present state of the operation process of parents' authority and put forward advice for its improvement.At the end of this paper are the summary description of the study's conclusions and the reflection of the method employed in the study.
