Imperial Kinsmen is an important part of the imperial family, sothat their educational problems draws the attention of the governors ofall dynasties. Especially in the Song Dynasty, based on expericences offormer dynasties, the governors took serial measures on the educationalsystem of imperial kinsmen, thus made it more and more perfect.This thesis is divided into four chapters. It focuses on the researchand study of the Imperial Kinsmen Educational System. (IKES)in SongDynasty.Chapter One: gives a brief introduction of the IKES of ancient China, including its development and evolution. Then concludes its mainfeatures, pointing out the function of IKES in Song Dynasty (which iscompared with the whole history of IKES)--inherited the past andenlightens the present.Chapter Two: Throughout the classifing of the formation, develop-ment of Gong Xue (schools inside the palace) and Zong Xue (imperialKinsmen's School), Which are the major two kinds of Song Dynasty'skinsmen'schools, we come to the conclusion of their differences and re-lation. Meanwhile analysises the reason for their merging tendencythroughout their development and evolution. Besides, making a detailedstudy on the management board, teaching staff, and these kinsmen students in the imperial schools.Chapter Three: Mainly concentrates on the family education of im-perial kinsmen. By comparing with common family education, points outthe eminent characteristics of imperial faimly education, in relation tothe educational methods, goal, content.Chapter Four: Makes further research on the result of IKES inSong Dynasty. In the cause of analysising on why the Song Governmentcan achieve such result (both good and bad aspects), bringing the naturalreason－mostly result from the special kinsman policy of Song Dynasty.
