Geography textbooks are the authoritative study materials, and the important media withwhich teachers use to teach, and from which students can absorb knowledge, improve ability, andcultivate emotions, manners and value.The surface layer system of Geography textbooks consistsof text system, picture system and practice system. Teaching materials reform is the importantcontent of new curriculum reform, as the important part of the Geography textbooks, the picturedesign and utility of the system is also deeply concerned. Comparing the picture system ofdifferent editions of Geography textbooks, in what kind of characteristics, what are the similaritiesand differences between them, what need to learn from each other’s advantages. This paperattempts through comparative analysis of different editions of textbooks can provide reference inpromoting for the future design of the geography textbook.Based on studying the picture system in the geography〈Compulsory1〉which published bythe People’s Education Press and published by Sino Maps Press, with statistical method andcomparison method on the two different editions of Geography textbooks picture system werestudied.In the first chapter, I present the background of this thesis as well as theoretical andpractical significance, this review summarized of the research status of the relevant geographictextbook of writing and related research, and research ideas and methods.Then the second chapter of the paper is about the position of picture system in the textbooks. Itemphasizes about categories of the picture system and the use of the picture system.After that,the picture system in the two editions of in the geography〈Compulsory1〉textbook are compared. The amount of picture、the display form of the picture、the form of thepicture、the size of the sheet,those are compared and analyzed separately. Then, attempt to findthe common and the distinctions of picture in the four aspects.Finally,,according to the compare of two different editions of the geography〈Compulsory1〉textbooks can be summed up two conclusions.
