Negotiation activities are an important part of modern Chinese history, the poor and weak in international relations of modern society and its structure determined in the humiliating position of modern Chinese diplomatic activities of the difficult and complex.Republic of China until the late Qing, diplomatic activities clearly displays five characteristics, namely:in foreign attitudes, not only has deep contempt for the Western powers fear; in the process of diplomatic negotiation, most can not get rid of beginning to try eventually give way;in external negotiations, it is difficult get rid of inside and outside the dual dilemma-the invasion of external enemies and internal strife between different political factions; emootion in the diplomatic activities, in full of humiliation, but also has maintained a relentless fighting spirit; in the evolution of the diplomatic process, on both the passive response, but also to some extent,learn advanced Western diplomatic strategy and other advanced gradually mature.Modern diplomacy, above-mentioned the five main characteristics,and politics, economy, culture of modern Chinese society are closely related. The upper ruling class is incompetent, in this condition,the elite can not display their potential to save the vision of the decline of the country;the agricultural civilization of China was more declined, it greatly limited the enhancement of overall national strength so far can not meet development of China in many aspects especially with regard to the needs of foreign material basis; culture, for the emperors and their officials by the Queen's transformation of the Confucian culture in the whole society dominated by a conservative and backward, following the beaten track atmosphere filled every corner of society,As a constraint to the modernization process of China's diplomatic thinking obstacles; bureaucratic administrative system set up bloated and numerous and most of its officials overstaffing, lack of reform or innovation and enterprising spirit, the pace of modern diplomacy is bound to very slow; nostalgia for the past and ancient civilizations thought the burden of in learning and drawing on the course of Western civilization to bear an extraordinarily strong resistance.The failure of China's modern diplomacy in general and to bear in mind the lessons learned should be summarized.
