It is a connecting link between preceding《The record of famous traditional Chinese painting in past dynasties》,which is written by yanyuan Zhang ,and the following《The subsequence of traditional Chinese painting》,which is written by chunDeng .The three books constitute one entire history of traditional Chinese painting.《The record of illustration and traditional Chinese painting》has won the recognition from the critics because of its elaborate work and profound theory and is honoured as"《The record of the history of Han dynasty》in the record of the history of traditional Chinese painting"and"the detailed outline in the research of traditional Chinese painting".Since the 20th century,《The record of illustration and traditional Chinese painting》has had a far-reaching worldwide influence because of thorough research by Chinese scholar ,widely print in Japan and some other countries and widespread in Europe and America. However, regarding as the following edition of《The record of famous traditional Chinese painting in past dynasties》,many researchers has ignored its new trend appearing in the background of the times of Song dynasty. This dissertation attaches most importance to《The record of illustration and traditional Chinese painting》of ruoxu Guo and is composed of the other several representative masterpieces of Song dynasty in history of traditional Chinese painting. In this dissertation ,there is description of some times character appearing in the masterpiece in the history of traditional Chinese painting of Song dynasty in terms of compilation style and compilation method, illumination of the handling of catalog in grade and subject of the traditional Chinese painting theory in Song dynasty .
