The relationship between classics and history is a crucial problem in the traditional Chinese academic history. The link between them was the focus of scholars, leaving lots of relevant arguments. To include classics into history was becoming a prominent idea after Wang Yangming. The idea of "six classics is history" was put forward by Zhang Xuecheng, which assembled the related views. But Zhang Xuecheng and his study were not outstanding in his period, until modern times that became prominent. Since modern times, traditional cultural was on reflection, following the entry of western cultural into china. During the reflection, some orthodox studies were paid attention, Zhang Xuecheng' study was one of which. The idea of "six classics is history" is conspicuous with excitement in his study.Zhang taiyan, hu shi and Qian mu, and so on, gave the idea of "six classics is history" different interpretations. Everything had a different understanding and interpretation because of their different positions, ideas, the life experience, academic sources and different cultures. Zhang taiyan interpreted "six classics is history" as history book, trying to maintain the unique values and the position of Chinese culture in the world by the argument. Hu Shi interpreted it history material that need to be examined deeply from the view of modern historian, trying to change traditional Chinese historiography into a science historiography as western. Qian Mu interpreted it as the classics view that was the epitome of the world, in a truly historic and objective survey of history, while he also thought that the general thrust also applied in modern history.Every understanding and interpretation has its value of attention and importance whether it agrees with the idea of Zhang Xuecheng or not, because they not only reflect Chinese scholars' understanding to traditional historiography, but also show their hard work to get through the intrinsic link between the traditional and the modern, providing valuable experience for the development of Chinese historiography. Chinese traditional historiography should pay attention to the following four aspects at least to achieve the modern:first, the change of historiography values; second, the changes of historical attitudes and methods; third, the technology and profession; fourth, the application of historiography theory and method.The text adopts the intrinsic theory of Yu Yingshi about the academic development, and some theories or methods of interpretation and views history, places the different interpretation of the classical text in history, crosses political ideology and the concept of narrow nationalism, examines the continuation and change of the idea in different historical period, the historian, and studies this traditional view how to play the intermediaries role in Chinese academic transform from traditional to modern of and to set up the bridge, in the background of the conflict between Chinese and western culture in modern. ornamented, review the traditional Chinese culture, and give out the modern change of Chinese academic in direction, features and changes.
