Objective:To explore the main associated factors of incidence hypertension in young and middle-aged women with high normal blood pressure (120-139/80-89mmHg).Methods:The study was a prospective cohort study. Baseline survey was carried out in the spring of 2006 in Beijing rural area. Totally 775 young and middle-aged women with high normal blood pressure in Beijing rural area was reexamined in the autumn of 2009. The data of incidence hypertension were obtained. SPSS 13.0 software was used for data analysis. Results:The mean of blood pressure (BP) was 126.8±6.7/80.2±5.6 and 128.2±13.9/79.2±8.8 mmHg (systolic/diastolic) at baseline and 3.5 years follow-up respectively. The incidence of hypertension was 23.5%(182/775). Partial correlation analysis (controlling for age) showed that:Baseline BP, waist circumference (WC), body mass index (BMI), TC/HDL-C ratio and the natural logarithm of insulin resistance index (Ln Homa IR) were associated with follow up BP values (P<0.05).Single factor analysis showed that:baseline age, BP levels, WC, and TC/HDL-C ratio were positively related to the incidence of hypertension (P<0.05). Logistic regression analysis showed that:baseline BP, age and WC increased the risk of incidence hypertension. SBP:OR=1.050(95%CI:1.021-1.080); DBP:OR=1.051 (1.016-1.087); AGE:OR=1.041(1.010-1.073);WC:OR=1.036(1.011-1.061).Conclusions:The incidence of hypertension was high and baseline BP, age and WC are risk factors of new-onset hypertension in young and middle-aged women with high normal blood pressure in Beijing rural area.
