RA has a high incidence ratio in China (0.32-0.36%), which is the primary reasons that people lose labor force and become disabled. Clinical studies have shown that Chinese medicine exhibits significant effect in the treatment of arthritis and related diseases in a significant effect, particularly acupuncture, certainly has more effect, less side effects and good patient compliance. Therefore, it attracts more and more attention in academic field. With the development of the model of adjuvant arthritis (AA), it has continued to be mature and improved, and is widely used in the study of rheumatoid arthritis (RA). The Inflammation which caused the damage to the body tissue, cells and the nucleus, is also caused a body of local or systemic response. It arouses a series of complex change. At the same time, Inflammation which eliminates and limits the damage of adverse factor, removing and absorbing the necrotic tissue and cells, is an important repairing process of the body. However, in the past 50 years many researches on the Chinese Medicine treatment of AA have focused on the effect and mechanism of acupuncture. Only in recent years, the research of acupuncture's effects about inflammatory cytokine has been come out gradually. Among them, the experimental results of the effect of cytokine on Inflammation and counter-inflammation are not yet unified. Electro-acupuncture (EA) and acupuncture, which one is more effective on AA treatment, and which parameters of EA is the best one for AA treatment, still remain to be solved.
