Objective To evaluate the clinical value of serum ferritin(SF) and glycosylated ferritin(GF) in the diagnosis of AOSD,so as to diagnose early and correctly.Methords Clinical data of 58 patients with fever of unknown origin(FUO)were collected and analysed. The venous blood samples were taken from patients and healthy controls for measuring the levels of SF and GF.Patients were divided into AOSD group and non-AOSD group according to the final diagnosis.Non-AOSD group patients were further divided into infection group, other rheumatic disease group and tumor group. The venous blood samples were taken again from discharged patients for measuring the levels of SF and GF.Then the disease of those patients was stable after therapy.SF levels were determined by electrochemiluminescence immunoassay. The GF/SF percentage was analyzed by concanavalin-A binding method. Results 1.58 patients of FUO were included in the study and 22 patients were AOSD.The SF level in AOSD group, with a maximum of 84 000ng/ml and a minimum of 420ng/ml,was significantly higher than that in non-AOSD group including infective disease group and other rheumatic disease group(P<0.01).The SF Ievel was significantly different between AOSD and tumor group(P<0.05).SF level of AOSD group and non-AOSD group was significantly higher than that of normal control(P>0.05).SF levels of patients with stable AOSD were significantly lower than that of patients with active AOSD(P<0.01).2.The GF level in AOSD group[16.49±10.48%]was significantly lower than that in non-AOSD group[61.64±17.94%]including infective disease group[66.5±10.24]and other rheumatic disease group[66.05±15.87](P<0.01).The GF level in AOSD group was significantly lower than that in tumor group[42.86±20.13](P<0.05).GF level of each group except infective diseases and other rheumatic disease was significantly lower than that of normal control group(P>0.05).GF level was not different between in stable phase of AOSD and active phase ofAOSD(P>0.05).Conclusion SF and GF are valuable marker for the diagnosis of AOSD in the patients with fever of unknown origin.
