Professor Hu Zhimin Use Of Integrated Traditional And Western Methods Of Treatment Of Elderly Patients With Advanced Lung Cancer, 32 Cases Of Lessons Learned

Objective:To evaluate the efficacy of methods integrated TCM and western medicine in elderly advanced lung cancer .Methods:Between September 2002 and October 2007,a total of 32 elderly advanced lung cancer patients,who had not previously been treated with radiotherapy or chemotherapy ,were enrolled in the study. Patients were treated with orally Chinese herbal and Compound Taxus Capsule,and recent efficacy and long-term results were analyzed.Results:The total of 32 patients with symptoms markedly improved,and extended survival period to a certain extent.Conclusion:As far as some of the elderly patients with advanced lung cancers are concerned, the application of the dialectic of traditional Chinese medicine and the application of the orally taken anticancer drugs which belongs to the combination of TCM and western medicine can be used as a promising treatment to improve the quality of their lives and to prolong their survival time. Part of those are patients who lost their radiotherapy and chemotherapy opportunities because of the decreasing of their various organs and the increasing of the complications, or because of already being at the most advanced diseased period when confirmed as well as the poor tolerance of the body.
