Objective: To investigate the reliability of nasal thecal tools which are made through atmospheric pressure theca technology;to research the truth of nasal models which are fininshed with rapid prototyping; to approach the way of making auxiliary thecal tool which will be used in the diorthosis of unilateral Cleft lip nasal deformation.Method: 1. A study on the reliability of nasal thecal tools. In distinct angle, with different thickness chaff to make thecal tools for 10 men through atmospheric pressure theca technology ,then to compare the coincidence degree between thecal tools with nasal models. 2. To research the truth of nasal model. Processing 10 men's head CT data to form CAD data with Minics10.0,Geomagic Studio7.0 and Magics8.05 three softwares, which rapid prototyping machine can perform and form resin models, then to compare difference between the models with noses. 3. Apply the three softwares to handle a male patient head CT data and acquire CAD data ,in which the uninjured side and injured side is symmetry on three diamensions direction.then through rapid prototyping machine transform into resin models, and with atmospheric pressure theca machine forming thecal tools.Results: 1. The thecal tools of two kinds of angles were comparted ,and there was significant differences in statistics. The thecal tools of two kinds of thickness were comparted too,and there was no significant differences in statistics.These results suggest that the accurate is different between the two kinds of angles in stamping Thecal tools. Meanwhile the thecal tools of vestibulum nasi were failed to accomplish.2. The resin models were ivory white, slick, clear and integrity. The mean error of 10 distances of basic external nose was lower than 0.5mm between nasal resin models and nose. and there was no significant differences in statistics. Meanwhile the resin models of vestibulum nasi can match the origins too.3.The symmetrical nasal models, which were made by means of uninjured side of the patient's nose, were successfully completed, and shaped corresponding Thecal tool.Conclusion: The external nose thecal tool can be directely formed by applying atmospheric pressure theca technology as long as the angle is correct, but the vestibulum nasi thecal tool can't be made directly. Associating spiral CT with rapid prototyping to make external nose and vestibulum nasi patrix is a feasible method, furthermore, the models' precision and specificity are very high. Through the series of technology and method, the cleft lip nasal deformation auxiliary restitution thecal tool was finally finished, and possibly become a auxiliary tool to the therapy of cleft lip nasal deformation.
