| Objective:To evaluate the therapeutic of Chinese Herbal Drugs(Dayitongbi-Tabal) in patients with ankylosing spondylitis(iS);To study activity of the disease with active ankylosing spondylitis after trement with Dayitongbi-TabalMethords : Ninety-six patients wit active ankylosing spondylitis were randomly assigned to receive Chinese Herbal Drugs(Dayitongbi-Tabalt 10~# three times a day) or SASP (1.0g three times a day)+Diclofenac sodium 50mg/qn for 24weeks. The scores of clinical Symptoms and Signs index(SSn, spinal pain VAS, BASDI, BASDI50, BAS-Q BASFI, BASMI were recorded before and after treaterment. Data of laboratory tests, including ESR, CRP, TNF-a, IL-6, wereobtained asbaseline before clinical test and after 24 weeks of treatment, and analyzed on an intention-to-treat basis.Results: Treatment with Dayitongbi-Tabalt showed better effect than SSZ. At the end of the 24th weeks, 30(57.69%) patients in the Dayitongbi-Tabalt group reachBASDI50, as compared with 14(31.82%) in the SASPgroup (P<0.05). The base-linevalues ofvarious measures of disease activity, including BASMI BASDI; BAS-G, BASFI, spinal pain, CRP, ESR, were significantly improved in the Dayitongbi-Tabalt group and in the SASP group except for CRP, ESR. Analysis of the data showed significant improvement in SASP, spinal pain, BASDI, BAS-C BASFI in the Dayitongbi-Tabalt group. The spinal pain was reduced more in the SASP group. In both groups, there was not significant change of BASML .The TNF-a, IL-6 of patients in both groups are abnormal before treated, and significant improvement was observed only in the Dayitongbi-Tabalt group.Conclusion: Dayitongbi-Tabalt was showed superior effects in inhibiting activity of active ankylosing spondylitis compared with the SASP group. Long-term studies are needed to determine whether such treament can modify disease outcorne. Regular measurement of serum TNF-a, IL-6, CRP and ESR may be useful in the assessment of pathology activity of ankylosing spondylitis. |
