Cancer-related fatigue(CRF) is one of the most common side effects of breast cancer patients receiving chemotherapy, can not be relieved by rest or sleep and impacts on quality of life badly. CRF and associated factors have not been studied pretty well in our country.Objects: The purposes of this study were to describe the status about CRF in breast cancer patients receiving adjuvant chemotherapy and to explore factors related to CRF in breast cancer patients receiving adjuvant chemotherapy.Method: A descriptive design was used. By convenient sampling, 171 breast cancer patients receiving adjuvant chemotherapy from four hospitals in Beijing were recruited. The demographic questionnaire, Revised Piper Fatigue Scale, Social Support Rating Scale, Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale, Athens Insomnia Scale were used to collect data. The data were analyzed with software SPSS version 10.0.Results: Approximately 96.6% patients experienced fatigue to some degree. Mean ratings for general fatigue and four dimensions of fatigue were moderate(5.38±1.82~5.99±1.75). Most breast cancer patients suffered from moderate to severe fatigue. Marriage, employment, nausea and vomiting, chemotherapy regimen, other side effects, pain, anxiety, depression, social support, objective support, subjective support, usage of support and sleep disorder were related to CRF. Multiple simultaneous regression indicated that employment, pain, chemotherapy regimen, other side effects, anxiety, social support, usage of support and sleep disorder were major influential factors and contributed to changes of fatigue. Conclusion: Most breast cancer patients receiving adjuvant chemotherapy experienced moderate to severe CRF. There were some factors that could affect cancer-related fatigue such as pain, chemotherapy regimen, depression, social support and sleep disorder. To decrease CRF, we should take some measures to intervene in the main factors primarily.
