The Sonic Of Hedgehog Expression In Gastric Cancer

Objective:This study was designed to determine the expression of Sonic Hedgehog(Shh)in gastric cancer and investigate their relationship with clinicopathologic characteristics of gastric cancer.Method:The expression of ShhmRNA was detected in 40 cases of gastric cancer tissues and 6 cases of nomal gastric tissues by RT-PCR technique.We alse detected the expression of Shh protein in all cases and compared the expression with clinicopathologic characteristics of gastric cancer.Result:ShhmRNA was not expressed or lowly expressed in nomal gastric tissues but highly expressed in gastric cancer tissues.Shh positive rate was 16.7%in nomal gastric tissues and was 62.5%in gastric cancer tissues.The expressed of Shh was higher in the group of gastric cancer tissues than nomal gastric tissues(P＜0.05).Shh positive rate was 16.7%in well differentiated gastric cancer and was 70.6%in moderate differentiated gastric cancer and poorly differentiated gastric cancer.There was a significant difference between the two group of gastric cancer tissues(P＜0.05).Shh positive rate wasⅠstage0%,Ⅱstage 50.0%,Ⅲstage 53.3%andⅣstage100%and there was a significant difference within the TNMstages of astric cancer(P＜0.05).The expression of Shh was not related with patient' s age,sexuality and pathologic type(P＞0.05).Conclusion:(1)Shh was not expressed or lowly expressed in nomal gastric tissues but highly expressed in gastric cancer tissues.(2)The exepression of Shh was not related with patient' s age,sexuality and pathologic type.The positive rate of Shh increased with the aggravation malignant degree and high TNMstage.
