Neijing "miao Thorn Issues Related To Research

Objective: Miuci was first seen in The Yellow Emperor' s Canon of Internal Medicine(NeiJing), there is one special chapter for Miuci in NeiJing, most of the doctors aftertime took NeiJing's theory, but made little further progress. nowadays, literature about Miuci is few, and the researches done have not a certain criterion, and Miuci is not usually mentioned in the text books. Few and few doctors really get the principles of Miuci ,not saying to use it in clinic. I collected the articles in the near 20 years , I want to give a whole review of Miuci, integrated with what I have learned from clinic, put forward my hypothesis, I want the readers to get a whole right knowledge of Miuci, so that further researches of Miuci can be promoted.Method: According to what I have learned from philology and catalogy, I looked up and collected articles about Miuci from the library and internet(CNKI), collated and chose them under the methodology and epistemology, appraised the contents and analysed the results with the words witten in ancient books, I wish I can get a deep and whole knowledge of Miuci.Result: I discussed the differences of Miuci and Juci, the textual researches of Chinese character, conception, pathogeny, pathogenic locality, diagnoses, acupuncture method, curative effect, and the application in clinic, I analysed the meanings of cross needling, the basic TCM theory of Miuci, and put forward a hypothesis of bioelectrical communication's conduction, point out the problem to be solved in both clinic and the lab. I hope this article may promote the further research of Miuci in the future.Conclusion: There have been different opinions about the explanations of the Chinese character"Miu"since it came out. but most of the doctors believe that"Miu"has the same meaning with cross (interleaving. chiasma),and"Ju"itself means mutual and corresponding, so that there is not too much difference in words between them.But there are differences in the way of conception, pathogeny, pathogenic locality, diagnoses, acupuncture method.When Pathogenic Qi(or we can call it XieQi), intrudes the collaterals, the collaterals are obstructed, and the Pathogenic Qi can not go into the channels, it has to disembogue the extremities along the big collaterals, that is why disease fit for Miuci happened. When the Pathogenic Qi intrudes channels directly, XieQi on one side of body is so strong that it can influence the state of the other side ,we use Juci. We choose collaterals for Miuci and channels for Juci. Because channel is bigger than collateral, so we take Miuci lightly and superficially, take Juci heavily and deeply. Symptemly, Patient fit for Miuci has a certain pain on the body, but no clear evidence from the pulse, Patient fit for Juci has a certain pain on one side of the body, and pathogenic appearance from the opposite pulse. The common ground of Miuci and Juci is : needling right acu-points to treat the left diseases, and needling left acupoints to treat the right diseases. they all belong tocross needling. According to the words from SuWen, we can conclude that they are all good to pain diseases.WangBing and many doctors believe the points chosen for Miuci are well points according to SuWen, but there are some people who think the points should not be just limited as well points, points at the end of extremities are all fit for Miuci. But most people believe bleeding method can complete the treatment of Miuci.I also enumerate the valuable articles written by modern people in near 20 years. Their researches prove that Miuci is a good acu-method to pain disease, facial paralysis and some other disease. And results of experiments done for Miuci show that Miuci does influence the body.Some people believe Miuci and Juci can not be clearly divided in clinic. We haven't a standard to differentiate disease into channel disease and collateral disease. And this differentiation is meaningless in clinic, so they suggested unify Miuci and Juci together, and some new names came out, these new names, whatever they are, are based on the TCM theory, and can be generalized into one : cross needling.TCM theory believes that people's body is a whole. We can take channels and collaterals as a whole, they intervein all over the body together to make sure the balance of Yin and Yang, Qi and Xue. Miuci and Juci are to adjust the Yin and Yang , Qi and Xue to get back the balance.In clinic, I find out the fact that when I choose a point on one side of body, the feelings of the other acu-points on the same side and the points on the other side or parts of the other side are strengthened. So I think I get the reasons that why ancient people always liked to choose points on double sides of body when they treated stroke patients, they wanted to strengthen the feelings of double sides, adjust the balance of Yin and Yang. and I discuss the proper time needling double sizes.I put forward a hypothesis which is about bioelectrical communication's conduction. I believe Miuci will make the bioelectrical communication distributed to a new balance, when a doctor hold a needle to wait Qi, bioelectrical communication on both people will recombine together and distributed on two people, and I give some useful clinical suggestions.At the end of this article, I summarize the shortages about both clinical and laboratorial researches on Miuci, and make a further expectation to the future research.
