Chinese herbal cosmetology is one of the hot spots in cosmetology medicine study , and also representative of the trend of the world cosmetics at present.Qianjin Fang , consisted of Prescriptions Worth Thousand Gold for Emergencies and Supplement to Thousand Golden Prescriptions , written by well-known Chinese medicine master Sun Simiao in the Tang Dynasty,is known as the first clinical medicine encyclopedia in Chinese medicine history.The book described cosmetic facial drug in details:Facial Drug in Prescriptions Worth Thousand Gold for Emergencies,and Woman Facial Drug in Supplement to Thousand Golden Prescriptions,were both special chapters focusing on cosmetology,and list Facial Drug as a special chapter for the first time.It was a pool of the results of Chinese medicine cosmestology before the Tang Dynasty,publicized many secret recipes to the world,enriched Chinese medicine costmetology,and also played an important role in the development of Chinese medicine cosmetology.The thesis studied the characteristics and rules of the prescriptions of Sun Simiao from fields as follows:the diseases treated by cosmestic prescriptions,the characteristics of the Chinese herb used in Qianjin Fang,and so on.The thesis collected,investigated,and analyzed the information of external facial drugs and prescriptions in Qianjin Fang,compiled and used in the books and ariticles written by ancient and modern Chinese medicine doctors after Sun Simiao.The results demonstrated that Qianjin Fang was a pool of the results of Chinese medicine cosmestology before the Tang Dynasty,and also played an important role in the development of Chinese medicine cosmetology.Though it has been extnesively studied by modern Chinese medicine doctors,there are still fields needing to go deep into and to improve.First,the thesis seleced 87external facial prescriptions in Qianjin Fang,summarized the diseases treated by the prescriptions,the part and the toxicity of the Chinese herb prescribed in Qianjin Fang.It showed that:Sun payed equal attention to the treatment and maintenance of facial diseases; the prescriptions had a broad extent in treating facial diseases,most of which were involved in; the prescriptions required for actual benefit , the ingredients in the prescriptions were not certain,and pulvis and slurry were the most popular preparation; Sun skillfully used herbs in tegumentum category and in white colour to accord with the theory'treating dermatosis with the tegumentum,complementing colour with the same one'; vegetable seeds and animal drugs were in common use,which embodied the theory that'integrated qi needed each other','complementing the human viscera with the animal's'; poisonous agents were also used to correct deflection with deflection,which was not only without defaulty ,but also had great effects in Chinese herbal cosmetology.Secondly,the characeristics of the herbs,used in Qianjin Fang,were analyzed.It was found that Sun emphasized the use of agents sweet,acrid and bitter in flavor; warm agents were in popular use; most of the agents turned to lung,spleen,liver and heart meridian; agents complementing deficency were the most favourite ones in clinical medication.The characteristics manifested Sun payed more attention to analyze the etiopathogenisis and pathogenesis of facial diseases,and determinated the treatment based in pathogenesis obtained through differentiation of symptoms and signs.They were also embodied,when it came to external use of the administration route.The thesis analyzed the medication rules in treating moth-patch , and protecting the skin for the external use.It showed that agents sweet and acrid in flavor were used more in treating moth-patch; and warm agent played an important role in treating moth-patch and applying for the external use,which accorded with the pathology of facial diseases,treated by the prescriptions in Qianjin Fang.When it came to protecting skin,Sun used warm agents more,besides paying more attention to agents sweet and acrid in flavor.Sun also discussed that the face was the gathering of essences from the five Zang organs,and the facisl color and luster was the reflex of the chages of qi and blood in the Zang-fu organs.In order to achieve the goal of cosmetology,the priciple of sydrome differentiation and treatment must be made good use of.And agents turning to lung,spleen,liver and heart meridian were selected,according to the priciple of regulating the qi and blood in the Zang-fu organs,dispelling evil and protecting the skin for health maintenance.In a word,Sun payed great attention to endotherapy,as well as extenal treatment.Although the symptoms were the external manifestations of the diseases,they were induced by the disorders of the inner Zang-fu organs,the imbalance of the Yin-Yang,the disorders of qi and blood.The priciples of external treatment were also the priciples of endotherapy,and the agents of external treatment were also the agents of endotherapy.All of them could make the effect of regulating the whole body,but there were only differeces in administration route.
