Cerebral ischemia injure is a serious threat against patients'life. Moreover, its sequela, such as dyscinesia of limbs, language disorder and decrease of cognitive ability, also mean a heavy burden to patients, families, and the society. The research of treating the stroke sequela with Chinese medicine and Western medicine is being carried out. On account of the pathogenesis theory of Dusun Naoluo and the key effect of synaptic linkage on neurotransmission, this research focused on the relevance and investigates the relationship between the theory of Jiedu Tongluo and synaptic plasticity.This article has two parts including literature review and empirical study. The review consists of the research progress of synaptic plasticity of central nervous system, and the research progress of the treatment with Chinese medicine during the convalescence stage of stroke.The vascular dementia model of SD rat was duplicated by clamping bilateral arteria carotis communis repeatedly and depressurization with Sodium Nitroprusside. The capacity of space orientation and relearning was determined with Morris water maze. Meanwhile the research and improvement of methodology about Morris water maze test was carried out. By electron microscope, immunohistochemical technology and micro-image analysis, the change of neurons and synaptic structure in cerebral cortex and hippocampus area after cerebral ischemia injury could be explored. And the influence on actin of cystoskeleton and synaptophysin in hippocampus area could be also investigated.The result showed:1. The characteristics of this vascular dementia model duplicated by clamping the bilateral arteria carotis communis repeatedly and depressurization with Sodium Nitroprusside were:①The capacity of space orientation was disordered, its learning ability lowered, and especially at the relearning stage its receptive ability to new things was very low.②The models were fit for the empirical study about acute stage and short-term. Especially for the Morris water maze test, the experimental cycle should be not over 4 weeks.③The neuron mitochondria were damaged, especially in cortical area their number decreased significantly.④The amount of synapses in cortical and hippocampus area decreased. The independent retrieve happened in the cortical area, but not easily in hippocampus area.⑤The length of synaptic interface shortened and the thickness of postsynaptic density decreased.⑥The percentage of curved synapses in the hippocampus area decreased, while in the cortical area the...
