Abstract objective: This research is to investigate the relationship between the expression and pathologic significance of ERα. and ERβin gastric cardiac cancer (GCC) tissue. Method: 113 cases of GCC, 19 normal gastric cardiac were collected. ERβwas detected by S-P immunohistochemical technique. Results: There were no statistically significant differences ERα. positive rate between GCC tissue and normal gastric cardiac(p>0.05). The expression of ERα. is related with the histological differentiation of GCC, the poorer differential tumor had lower positive rate (p<0.01). The expression of ERα. is related with the depth of invasion, the greater extent tumor had higher positive rate (p<0.05). ERα. positive rate was not relative to the patients'age, sex, pathologic status and nodal metastases(p>0.05).GCC tissue had higher ERβpositive rate than normal gastric cardiac(P<0.05). The expression of ERβis related with the histological differentiation of GCC, the poorer differential tumor had lower positive rate (p<0.01). ERβpositive rate was not relative to the patients'age, sex, the depth of invasion, pathologic status and nodal metastases (p>0.05). Conclusion: the study indicated that ERα. and ERβin GCC tissue might play an important role in the development of GCC.
