Objective:Stroke is a group of clinical manifestation mainly of ischemic stroke or hemorrhagic stroke whose other name is cerebral vascular accident, with high incidence rate, high mutilation, high mortality rate and high relapse rate. It is more frequently and common, seriously affects the life and heath of the human being. It results in mutilation and death among middle-aged and old people. It is predict by specialists that the incidence rate of stroke will increase continuously, with the development of society, the acceleration of the rhythm of work and life and the change of the life style. There have been lots of studies which comprehensively discussed the relationship of blood glucose levels and stroke in modern medicine, especially about the incidence of stroke and badly prognosi increased by hyperglycemia, as well as the results of brain lesion. Now, more studies have carried out on the prognosi of stroke influenced by hyperglycemia, and the mechanism. There are more cases and treatments of Chinese traditional medicine on stroke and XIAO-KE, but less of studies on the relationship between syndrome differentiation of traditional Chinese medicine and high blood glucose in acute stroke patients with or without diabetes. In the traditional Chinese medical science, one of the significant characteristic is to carry out treatment after distinguished the syndromes which is the most important. After doing that correctly, it will increase the effect and reduce the side-effect. Therefore, it is necessarily to study the relationship between syndrome differentiation of traditional Chinese medicine and high blood glucose in stroke patients with or without diabetes. We should search for the regular patterns and summary the experience. So the treatment and effect will be greatly improved. Methods:In this study, 200 acute stroke patients are divided into 3 groups, the first are normal in blood glucose, the second are diabetic patients with high blood glucose and the third are nondiabetic patients with stress hyperglycemia, according to the disease history and the blood glucose levels. The blood glucose levels were assayed. The syndromic quantitative diagnose of acute stroke patients were performed. The tongue-figure and pulse-image were objected and touched。The diagnosis criterions of stroke is according to the standards revised by China Medical Association at the fourth national Cerebral vessels subject conference in 1995. The diagnosis criterions of syndrome of stroke is worked out by emergency encephalopathy scientific research co-operation group attach to State Chinese Traditional Medicine Administration Bureau, and the syndromic diagnose is quantitative. Results:(1)The highest distribution probability of stroke syndrome was phlegm(痰证), 128 cases in total, accounted for 64%.Followed by fire-hot(火热), 122 cases, o accounted for 61%,both exceeded half. Blood stasis(血瘀) and Qi-deficiency(气虚) were also weight greatly, with75 cases, 37.5%and 62 cases,31.0%. (2)Among the acute stroke patients in three groups, the distribution probability of wind syndrome(风证) was significantly high in patients with DM and with stress hyperglycemia than in normal group(P(0.05和P(0.01). The distribution probability of phlegm(痰证) was significantly high in group with stress hyperglycemia than in normal and with DM group(P(0.01).The score mean value of 6 kinds syndromes were without significant difference in three groups respectively(P>0.05).(3)The mean of blood glucose scores in the same syndrome was with significantly difference between two-two groups among the three groups. In the same group, The mean of blood glucose scores in different syndrome was without significantly difference.(4)The higher distribution probability of tongue-figure were red-tongue, dark-tongue, greasy-moss and yellow-moss in acute stroke patients. In stress hyperglycemia group, They were more red-tongue, dark-tongue, greasy-moss and yellow-moss. (5)In three groups especially in stress hyperglycemia...
