Objective:To explore the protective effect of Kuan xiong zhu yu decoction (KXZYD) on protecting and treating myocardial ischemia-reperfusion injury(MIRI). Methods:Langendorff device was used to form isolated rabbit hearts ischemia and reperfusion model. Sixteen rabbits were randomly divided into two groups and administered orally with KXZYD group and compound Dan Shen tablet (CDT) group (n=8 in each group). During the experimental course, coronary blood flow and myocardial contractive power were recorded. Thirty-two rabbit models with MIRI established by clamping left branch of their coronary artery were divided randomly into sham operation group, ischemia reperfusion group, KXZYD group and CDT group. The serum levels of creatine phosphokinase (CK) and the activities of superoxide (SOD) were determined. And the elevation of ST-T in ECG was recorded. Results: KXZYD could promote coronary blood flow and myocardial contractive power of isolated rabbit hearts after reperfusion. During the experiment of coronary artery ligature, compared with those in ischemia reperfusion group, SOD and CK activity and ST-T in two treated groups were lighter(P<0. 01). There was significant difference in two treated groups. Conclusion: KXZYD could effectively protect the myocardium from ischemia reperfusion injury through attenuating the oxygen free radical damage.
