Aim: It is thought that the theory of free radical on aging.is an important factor on haman's damage and harm. The aim of the subject is to study ginseng stem-leaf saponin's effect on brain aging. Methods: Adopting the natural aging mice, and divided them randomly by weight and fed them with drugs for three months, I used the elect maze to determine learning and memory ability of mice , the content of MDA and the action of MAO-B of brain tissue; Adopting the natural aging mice and divided them randomly by weight and fed them with drugs for 40 dags, I determine the action of SOD and GSH-Px of brain tissue; Bissecting and fecthing the brain of the adult and aging rats and preparing brain chondriosomes and microsomes, I determined MDA content of brain chondriosomes and microsomes by the method of Fe2+-cysteine inducing oxidation-redaction reaction. Results: Ginseng stem-leaf saponin can increase learning and momery ability of aging mice, decrease the content of lipid peroxide and inhibit the action of MAO-B of brain tissue; ginseng stem-leaf saponin can increase the action of SOD and GSH-Px of brain tissue; ginseng stem-leaf saponin can also inhibit the content of LPO induced oxidation-reduction reaction by Fe2+-cysteine in brain chondriosomes and microsomes of the adult and aging rats. Conclusion: Free radical' s harm to body is one of the basic mechanisms causing aging. Ginseng stem-leaf saponin resists free radical and protects brain function by inhibiting LPO of brain tissue. brain chondriosome and microsome and inhibithing the action of MAO-B and by increasing the action of SOD and GSH-Px. Ginseng stem-leaf saponin can increase the learning and memory ability of brain aging by above functions.
