Objective f to study the effect and the mechanism of combined use of westernand Chinese medicine on involution melancholic. Method: 60 female Patients whosatisfied the CCMD-II criteria and the differentiation criteria of combination ofWestern and Chinese medicine (Kun Ming,199l) were randomly divided into 2groups. 30 patients received both low dose of Western medicine and Chinesemedicine. The other 30 were given only Western medicine (the ContrOl group).ResuIt: the effective rate of patients who received both Westem and Chinesemedicine was 90%, while the effective rate of Westem medicine was 86.67%.
