Objective To study the influence of lACE for hepatocellular carcinoma(LICC) on tumor cells spreading in blood. Methods Using nested RTCR, AFPmRNA content in 21 blood santples from the HCC patients were determined and the changs observed one week before each lACE and one week after each lACE. Results of the 2111CC Patients, 13(61.9%) patients had positive AFPinRNA while 8 (38. 1%) patients had negative AFPinRNA before the first TACE. In 13 patients with blood AFPmRNA being positive before the first TACE, negative AFPmRNA was found in 3 cases one week after the first lACE, In 5 cases four week after the first lACE, In 7 cases one week after the second TACE and six patients (In which there were 5 patients with intrand extraepatic metastases) remained positive. 8 patients with blood AFPmRNA being negative before the first lACE didn return to positive one week after the first lACE and four week after the first lACE, but 2 patients whose samples were originally negative for AFPmRNA later showed detectable AFPmRNA in the peripheral blood one week after the second TACE. Condusion 1 -. lACE has effect on preventing the hematogenous dissemination and metastasis of HCC in partial patients; 2 There is possibility of hematogenous metastasis of HCC after multiple lACE (2 times) ; 3. It is necessary to 11CC patients that comprehensive treatmeat of systemic chemotherapy and immunotherapy et ai is needed to HCC patients during lACE phase.
