There is not individualism from ancient times, although it sprouts early in the politics , culture of the ancient society of the west. But just only in the fertile soil of market economy of capitalist class, it take shape gradually fully develops and finally ripe. The inherent essence of capitalist market economy has determined as dependent on each other as lips and teeth, close relation intricately woven together between it and individualism. But under the condition of present socialist market economy, individualism has already arisen at the historic moment. This is a need of the times, and the irrefutable fact too. However, that kind of demand replaces maintaining briefly it is not worth choosing of collectivism totally with individualism, because it not only unable to establish at historical logic and theory logic, must cause all kinds of problems, very heavy predicament among actual life.Analyse in terms of social systematic structure, the religion of the western society, legal tradition and autonomy traditional of citizen's societies, the structure coupling that these formal or unofficial systems make up , become the extremely important part in the function mechanism of individualism --It has not merely promoted the flourishing development of individualism, and restricted and prevented the malignant development toward extreme of individualism from within a very long time (in the initial stage of capitalist market economy at least ), control the function of individualism in a comparatively rational range. The unique social systematic structure , modernized route , social psychological accumulation and special experience of individualism in contemporary China, it is determined that the method that we solve the individualism development predicament is, while developing other advantages of ideology and politics, construct new collectivism, as a kind of structure coupling, restraining, neutralizing, rectifying and remedying individualism, lead individualism to develop in a healthy way.In the social evolution that the spiral rises of feudal wholism --Individualism -- Marx's"real collectivism", new collectivism is the transition stage leaping from individualism to real collectivism. Such new collectivism, is based on socialist market economy, can utilize the individual interests lever effectively , having excited the individual's creation latent energy better, can utilize individual and a collective one two-way and interdynamic, make individual interests and collective interests develop in harmony in the contradiction. Its present task is, help and lead individualism to play a positive role, promote socialist market economy development in the healthy, continuous way; Its final goal is, substitutes individualism gradually as for the function , keep forging ahead gradually to Marx's " really " collectivism.
