The key of forest fire prevention is how to find ignition point and make accurate position quickly. The current use of satellite remote sensing method, it is better for large area fire monitoring, but there are still some problems for a real-time difference and difficulty to monitor the small area of fire.In this paper, based on the traditional application of fire detection technology, contraposing characteristics of infrared fire image, from a practical point of view, it completes the design and development for the master controller of infrared ground forest fire detection system, and it designs a set of infrared ground forest fire detection system of precise positioning and tracking fire point target. The system is composed of uncooled FPA thermal imager, master controller, cloud platform, wireless communication equipment, power supply system and video display system. The thermal imager is installed on observation tower in the forest. It carries out continuous scan monitoring for temperature field in forest. The master controller, taking FPGA+DSP as processing platform, achieves a proper forest gray image acquisition and use of adaptive threshold method to judge if there is fire point. When there is fire, it will supply a method combined an image edge detection and adaptive threshold together to extract fire target, store fire point pixel position, finally map to the actual position, supply fire point address, realize automatic monitoring of forest fire target, and transmit the detected fire information to the fire control center by wireless communication equipment for interpretation and storage, to interpret and position the information which is transmitted from the master controller on every observation tower by using a large fire alarming interpretation software. Then the master controller controls the cloud platform to rotate by using of communication protocol and algorithms, so that the optical system main optical axis of thermal imager is always aligned to the maximum gray value point to achieve tracking purpose.The system realizes long distance, high accuracy, high real-time, automatic monitoring all day, positioning and tracking for the ground forest fire. According to two ways of digital image processing and analog video output, it can monitor the fire so that it can find the fire timely, make rescue solution and give the correct commands. And validate the system in a variety of environments, the result shows that the system meets the design requirements. The investigation on this issue has practical significance; the domestic forest fire detection just starts so far. If the paper, investigation on infrared ground forest fire target detection system can be further improved and promoted for application, it will greatly protect our forest resources.
