With the development of Intemet and the coming of the post—PC era. Embedded system, being the center of interest in the rising research in recent years, has been becoming an important component in this field..This paper aims to illustrate the definition, development and characteristics of embedded system generally, introduces the kernel of hardware of the develop board which uses ARM EP7312 one of embedded microprocessor, discusses the architecture and instructions set of ARM processor, lists the composing of develop board and equipments around. The develop board have its processor, EP7312. As the kernel of software and important operating system one of embedded Linux system,uClinux has been discussed its frame structure of the source, functions, memory managementand the methods of miniaturization. Finally, we discovery the critical techniques about the porting of uClinux OS in develop board based on ARM processor.Based on research on uClinux OS and ARM processor, this article implements the following parts:1) Building the cross-compile environment based on ARM processor.2) Substract, config and compile uClinux OS and generate the zImage, which is kernel image3) Config and compile the standard kernel of uClinux to generate root file system4) Simulate the running of Minigui based on uClinux OS.Finally, uClinux embedded OS be ported on ARM develop board completely. All of this is based on running uClinux in the simulator about skyeye. As a attemp, we accomplish the running minigui graphic user interface in skyeye, learn about the machinery of Minigui. In this process, we display principle and key technologies of embedded Linux in the development of embedded system...
