【Objective】Comparative analysis of using absorbable rod fixation of radial head fractures with surgery, for a reasonable treatment of radial head fractures.【Methods】Retrospective analysis 36 cases for surgical treatment of radial head fractures in patients with clinical data from January 2005-January 2010.According to the different surgical methods were divided into two groups, one for the use of Kirschner needles, metal screws and plates with traditional internal fixationmaterial,a set of internal fixation using absorbable rods. Postoperative complications and the recovery of limb function were followed up the investigation records, by shooting X-ray films to evaluate the fracture healing, functional recovery of limb use of Broberg and Morrey elbow performance score was evaluated.Follow-up results were compared by analysis and comparison of the clinical efficacy of the different surgical methods.【Rsults】There was no significant intraoperative neurovascular injury. Wound healing. One case of patients lost ,follow-up rate was 94.3%. Patients were followed up were obtained from surgical cases except two cases( failed to meet the healing time), other fractures achieved clinical union, elbow flexion and forearm rotation limb function well without significant complications. The goog rates of metal implant group and absorbable rod fixation group were 92.3% and 94.4%. The difference in clinical efficacy of two internal fixation was no significant difference.【Conclusions】Result of absorbable rod fixation of radial head fractures was effective. Compared with traditional metal implant, it has more advantagesis, lighter surgical injury, is a safe, reasonable and economical treatment.
