Based on the reviews of urban forests in and abroad, xi'an urban forest within 2 rings was investigated for its structure and service effects according to forest ecology, landscape ecology, urban ecology and landscape architecture. Using the technique of 3s and outdoor survey, the paper analyzed the landscape pattern,horizontal structure and vertical structure,air pollution removal effect,carbon storage and sequestration effect,stormwater runoff reduction effect of 6 different land-use categories-Residential area, Road, Park, Culture area, Industrial area and Commercial area.The main results are as follows:1. Collected the data of the vegetation in xi'an, which forms the basis of the research afterward. The study area contains 28 species of arbor, 15 species of shrub and 6 species of grass mainly. The vegetations in the atudy area are mainly Sophora japonica, Platanus orientalis, Popupus.nigra var.italica, Cedrus deodara, Ligusrum lucidum, Pinus tabulaeformis, Paulownia fortunei, Pinus bungeana. Basing on the field survey and indoor work, we established the database for this research, using the aerial image as the data source, the ARCVIEW3.X and the CITYgreen5.2 as the software platform, including spatial data and attribute data.2. Use Quickbird image as data resource, combine GIS and Fragstates3.3-a software for landscape index, the paper analysed urban forest landscape attributes of study area. The result is that the urban forest's corresponding is in a low level and coefficient of variation is in a high level. The present layouts of urban forest fail to form intense eco-relationship and strong benefits.3. The health situation of study area is good; The urban forest pattern are classified by 5 categories: arbor-shrub-herb, arbor-herb, arbor-impervious surface, shrub-herb and lawn.4. The ecological value of air pollution removal effect and sequestration effect in xi'an is as high as 5317700 yuan per year in terms of economy.
