Due to differential settlement from rigidity and flexibility in the transition section between road and bridge, "Vehicles bumping in the end of bridge" has been a tough concern for a long time. Therefore, it is crucial for the engineers to pay more attention on design and construction for this section. Moreover, it is also a significant problem for the high-speed railway bridges with the design speed of 350 km / h. The key to address this problem is depended on the selection of appropriate filler, reasonable construction machinery, construction techniques, quality inspection as well as the method for settlement observation.Due to its longest mileage under construction as well as the highest technical standards, Wuhan-Guangzhou passenger railway line, with full length of 968 km as well as the speed of 350 km/h, is one of most significant high-speed railway project in China now.This paper gives an introduction on the development of high speed railway in domestic and abroad, analyzing the importance of transition section as well as the research approach at domestic and abroad for this problem. Based on the construction experience of the author, the type and technical parameters of the transition system from Wuhan-Guangzhou Passenger Dedicated Line has been introduced. Meanwhile, the filling material, construction technology, quality inspection as well as the method for settlement observation has been proposed. As for the quality inspection, the reasonable indicators have been put forward, which is the dynamic deformation modulus Evd. The feasibility of this method has been test from the selection and mixing of raw materials, construction techniques to the quality of testing and observing the results of settlement observation. Hence, graded broken stone with 5% cement is a better way to handle the problem of the transition section. It can be expanded to other construction project when deal with the problem of the transition section of road and bridge and can be used for reference in further study.
