The rigid nodes of steel frame appeared lots of brittle failure, the beams didn't appear plastic deformation obviously and the plastic deformation didn't happen at all during the earthquake of America and Japan. In order to improve the node properties of the beam-column, the inside and outside research men provide the reduced beam section node. The node causes the plastic hinge what takes place the normal node first to transfer to the beam so that the member destroys in advance of the node.The paper sets forth the research present state and the application setting and the design principle of the reduced beam section node. There are some validations on the reduced beam section node. And there had made the experiment and numeric simulating on the reduced beam section node. We had made six members. According to defining the different parameters (the reduced distance from the reduced position to the flange girth of column - a, the reduced length -b, the reduced depth -c), there had 5 members of the reduced beam section node. And we had made a normal node because of contrasting with the test phenomenond and analysis. Through the whole test phenomenon, we observe that the reduced beam section node can cause the plastic hinge to the beam so that the beam member destroys in advance of the node. And in the hysteretic curve of the reduced beam section node and the normal node, the dissipative coefficient is more and reach the demand of the dissipating level seismic power.The paper made the same model in contrast with the test member in the soft ANSYS of the finite element, and carried out the numical analysis and study. In the analysis of the soft ANSYS of the finite element, we researched 7 the central paths. The result of ANSYS' analysis proofs the newly distributing stress on the reduced beam section node relaxed the stress of the beam-column welding line and that node cause the most stress to move the reduced position so that the node was prostected.Through the result of test and numical analysis, we selected the middle part of the developing curve and observe the result is consistent.The conclusions in the paper can be deemed to the reduced beam section node' reference on the research and use in the future.
