Hydro-viscous drive (HVD) that has developed since middle 1970s from abroad is a new fluid transmission. Hydro-viscous drive system is a new type of power transmission mechanism, which is based on Newton friction law and utilizes the shear of oil between two sets of discs for power transmission, the oil thickness within frictional disks could be adjusted for practical output speeding. It has been abroad used in energy saving field of big power fan and water pump, so the development of the hydro-viscous drive clutch has a wild foreground.Now most of hydro-viscous drive systems are installed in the output shaft of the drive pieces, the input speed is high and the transmission is small, the liquid in the rubs existences turbulent state, so the controllability is reduced. The paper uses Reynolds number to analyse the form of the liquid in the hydro-viscous drive system, research transmission torque of the hydro-viscous drive system rubs who work in mixed friction film cutting area and acceleration area. Making a spot test for the hydro-viscous drive system who working under low speed, After measuring the relevant parameters of the output speed and torque online, the physical parameters of the system in the actual operating mode have obtained, then we can obtain the relationship of the output speed and torque.The paper discusses the characteristics and types of hydro-viscous drive, introduces the mechanical system and hydraulic system of the structure and working principle, analyses and calculates of the force acted on the surface of the oil film between two sets of the discs inhydro-viscous system. The oil film and load's dynamic model of the hydro-viscous drive is based on its dynamic force balance. So we can find the transmission functions of its output moment and rev, based on performance. Digital simulation theoretical analysis of the hydro-viscous dynamic system is done by using general dynamic simulation software Matlab.
