Study Of The Old Town Transit Oriented Renovation Mode

Renewing the study and practice on the old city renewal and redevelopment, the im-provement of traffic situation is considered that it can advance the old city renewal ,but the traditional renewal is short of systemic study on the integrating the traffic, especially public transit, with old city renewal. Under the background that our cities develop public transit firstly, it attempts to make some research on integrating Transit-Oriented-Development into old city renewal, on the basis of fruitful achievement gained by many scholars.Firstly, starting with the city development and decline, the paper analyzes the features of China's old city at the aspect of land use, transportation and history. Furthermore it indicates the reasons for the decline of China's old city. Then, based on the analysis of difficulties that China's old city renewal faces, the paper analyzes the sticking points at the aspect of finance assignment, planning, developer's motivation, planners'capability and decision-making sys-tem.Secondly, the paper expatiates on the TOD's background, meanings and practice. By in-troducing some related cases, it presents the practice of TOD to the old city renewing over-seas, and something is revealed. Then, it analyzes the meanings of TOD's applying to China's old city renewal, puts forth the mode of old city renewal based on TOD, and explains the meanings of the mode.Thirdly, the paper studies systematically the mode of old city renewal based on TOD, at the aspect of traffic system setting, land-use planning, and history protecting, and put forth some envisage. Furthermore, the paper presents a detailed analysis and introduction on the essential spirit and applying strategy. In addition, it makes a research on the organizing and operating ways and related law systems about this mode.In the end, the paper gives Nanjing's old city renewal as an example.
