Along with the accomplishment of the sustainable development strategy and the exploitation of natural gas resource, gas-turbine generator faces a very bright future. Under this circumstances, considering the product sales orders of Jinan Power Equipment Factory, we developed gas-turbine generator of WY16Z-037LLT. This paper is a research into some questions of designing, manufacturing and testing of the above-mentioned type of generators, covering the following points:(1) Confirming the electrical parameters and configuration of the gas-turbine generator.(2) Analysing and calculating the strength of generator frame and rotor with finite element method.(3) Calculating the critical speed with Prohl method.(4) Calculating the bearing characteristics by Reynolds equation and numerical program introduced from ALSTOM Co.(5) Designing and calculating of the key parts—stator winding. It gives the way of transposition, the way to control the dimension and form of the end part, and the processing method, troubleshooter during the fabricating.(6) Trying to improve part of the insulation configuration and make it at home in order to make the generators more competitive and reliable.(7) Analysing the unit performance with the test results after the pilot production. During the development, we introduced advanced foreign technology, adopted new designing and calculating methods, made favorable research and trials to the designing and manufacturing, and achieved the predicted goal successfully. With the advantages of reasonable configuration, advanced technology and high performance, the newly-developed gas-turbine generator of WY16Z-037LLT will bring great benefit to economy and society. Meanwhile, this development lays a foundation for improving the designing and manufacturing quality and level and the series development of gas-turbine generators.
