Compared with the pressure hydrophone, acoustic vector sensor have many advantages, and acoustic vector sensor array perform better than traditional scalar hydrophone array. In this dissertation, we begin to estimate DOA based on single acoustic vector sensor, then ordinary beamforming algorithm and high resolution technology are introduced to estimate DOA. We use multi beam system to estimate DOA with ordinary beamforming algorithm based on acoustic vector sensor array and the computer simulation is implemented. High resolution technique is presented to estimate coherent signal DOA. The main content is outlined as followingA research of DOA estimation based on single acoustic vector sensor is made in this thesis. In the research, The working principle of resonance acoustic vector sensor is presented, receiving signal mathematic model is establish. Three methods about DOA are summarized, The error of DOA estimation is both discussed.Narrowband beamforming algorithm is studied thoroughly based on acoustic vector sensor array to estimate DOA of a single signal. Conventional beamforming algorithm is analyzed in detail and the array performance is compared between acoustic vector sensor array and traditional scalar hydrophone array, A conclusion is made that spatial gain(SG) of vector arrays is 6dB more than SG of conventional arrays with the same condition. Amplitude-comparing method is emphasized to estimate DOA in multi beam system, a method of linear interpage is attempted to approach relation curve between angel of incidence and the ratio of response of neighboring beams, the simulation indicates that this method can estimate DOA well when the SNR is more 3dB.Estimation of multiple sigals' DOAs and division of them arrive in different directions are studied thoroughly with high resolution technique.
