As the most frequently used instrument in the electronic engineering,oscilloscope externs the human vision by it's power. As time goes by, Ithas been developed into several familys. One fork is the Portableinstrument. This dissertation will illustrate the development of theportable oscilloscope.Base on the SOPC technology, the design has a very compactarchitecture. One chip gives the solution of the handheld oscilloscopedigital part. The Nios processor is embedded into the Cyclone FPGA alsowith several custom prephieal control logic integrated. The solutionprovide with fast data catch, trigger control, display dirver, parametertransfer, etc. Software running in the chip controls the whole system astheir brain.The dissertation mainly focus on the software architecture designand low level layer implementation. Firstly the dissertation describes thehardware and software architecture, and shows the goal of this design.From requirement analysis to modules implementation, the dissertationgives the whole vision of the development proces. Secondly, it describesthe low level layer implementation. The low level layer of the system iscomposed of hardware drivers and hardware logic block implementation.At last, it describes the debugging and testing in detail. Debugging andtesting is the important issue of the dissertation. By providing with thetest result, the dissertation shows that the design is successful and therequirement is met.
