By now, in the ceramic sanitary wares industry, manual methods are still widely applied in the developing processes of new products, resulting in long developing period and high cost. Therefore, a rapid integrated manufacturing scheme of the sanitary products is proposed. The new scheme integrates the Computer Aided Design of the products, numerical simulation of the flush process and Rapid Tooling, to realize the informatization reforming of the traditional industry. The numerical simulations of the flush process for certain type of washdown water closet are systematically researched in this paper. On the basis of commercial softwares, the innovative flush simulations are primarily realized.The structure of the closets is the most complex among the sanitary ware products and the flush results are their main working performances. The flush performance is closely relevant to the reasonable structure. In this paper, the flush function is divided into two aspects. One is the process flushing the inner wall of the closet bowl; the other is the discharge of the dirty objects under the action of water flow.The flush process within the complex closets is a kind of very complicated unsteady multi-phase flow. In this paper, the flush process in a certain type of wash-down closet is studied and a set of numerical research schemes is put forward. The flow process in the complex structure is simulated with the method of Computational Fluid Dynamics. Some softwares are selected and certain simulation methods are developed. The corresponding mesh schemes are established for different solution models and different cases are simulated and analyzed. Four main aspects are studied intensively:(1) The flow in the trapway tube is simulated and a structure optimization method of the tube is built up.(2) The three-dimension free surface flow is simulated with the VOF method and the effects of different structures on the fluid field are analyzed.(3) The mathematical model of the flush process is built up. The simulation method ofthe flush process is proposed and the visualization of the flush process is achieved by Visual C++6.0.(4) The Fluid-Solid Interaction problem of the dirty objects discharge is simplified and the simulation is done with ALE method.Based on this paper, further study of the whole flush process can be carried out. With the experiments, the numerical simulation models and the results can be improved, to realize the optimization and innovative development of the new sanitary ware products. Such research would be very valuable both in academic and practical areas.
