An oxidation-flocculation-filtration-reverse osmosis process is reviewed to treat secondary effluent in Daqing Refining & Chemical Company. Based on the water quality and requirement, the pretreatment process and operation parameter are designed, and the change rules of fouling-resistant reverse osmosis membranes is identified. The results show that flocculation-filtration can remove the great mass of suspended substance, turbid and part of ion, chroma. The quality of pretreated water can meet the feed requirement of reverse osmosis membranes. Filtrate velocity and adding quantities of flocculants dominate pretreated water quality. The product water of reverse osmosis is satisfied with Design Criterion of Industrial Water Softening and Demineralization. Because of membrane fouling, flux will descend after a period of time, and chemical cleaning can resume its performance.
