A kind of novel PU and poly(acrylate-co-methyl methacrylate)s with nonlinear optical conjugated group were synthesized. Their properties were studied. The main contents of this dissertation consist of the following points:1. In the dissertation, the principle and technology of nonlinear optics and the history and recent development of nonlinear optical materials were systematically summarized. 2. Based on the theory of nonlinear optics, fifteen compounds containing six objective monomers were synthesized. Their structures were characterized with FT-IR , UV, and 1H-NMR.3. A kind of novel PU with nonlinear optical conjugated group was synthesized by poiymerization. These polymers were characterized using FT-IR, UV, 1H-NMR and VPO.4. The objective monomers were polymerized by free radical polymerization method. Effect of different polymeric conditions, such as temperature, solvent and time , were investigated in details. The copolymerizations of the objective monomers with methyl methacrylate (MMA) were carried out. These polymers were characterized using FT-IR, UV , 1HNMR, and GPC.5. The nonlinear optical properties of three monomers and some polymers were studied with z-scan technology. The experimental results reveal that they all possess a strong nonlinearity. The nonlinear absorption coefficient (B), the nonlinear refractive coefficient (n2) and the third-order nonlinear susceptibility (X(3)) of three monomers and some polymers were fitted and calculated. The relationship between nonlinear optical properties and molecular structures was discussed.6. The optical limiting effects of three monomers and some polymers were studied. The experimental results reveal that they all possess optical limiting properties.
