Polyvinylpyrrolidone(PVP),which is a kind of soluble macromolecular fine chemical with high performance of good solublity,physiological adaptability and complexibility etc,has been widely applied in many fields such as medicine,medical and health ,food and drink,cosmetics and new material etc. The studies focus on the synthesise of N-(2-hydroxyethyl)-2-pyrrolidone(NHP) , the production of polyvinylpyrrolidone and its appliation. The major production method of NHP has some shortcoming such as its dangerous acetyene gas,high press,complicated process (five steps) and expensive equipment etc.Now major method in reserch of producing NI-1P begins with y-butyrolactone.First, at the temperature of 185,y-butyrolactone reacts with ethanola wine in liquid phase without catalyst for about twenty to thirty hours to give NHP.Then Nl-IP is dehydrated to give NVP.It is clearly that the process lasts too long and it is difficult to produce continuously. In this paper,the process begins with y-butyrolactone.The zeolites made of NaY is modified with other ion cation in traditional ways and is used as catalyst of the reaction of y-butyrolactone with ethanola wineit is studied that Y zeolite with different ion cation has specical properties,espcially CuY shows the highest activity.The influences of marterial ratio,temperature and time on the reaction are also discussed. Perpendicular experiment has been made to get the optimum reaction condition with the CuY as catalyst whose wight is 1% of y-butyrolactone, the ratio is 1:1.1 5,the temperature is I 85~C,the time is 10 hours.ln this base,the kiuetic character is discussed. The kiuetic equation and the kiuetic parometer are got. Multibasic oxide catalysts are prepared and their perfermence on dehydration reaction is evaluated.It is found that K0 8Si30Ceo~3 shows the highest activity.With K0.gSi3oCeo3 as the catayst, the perpendicular experiment is made to get the optimum reaction condition as that in the fixed bed reacter of b 12mm, the tribasic oxide K08Si3oCeo.3 is used as catalyst whose amount is 5 ml,the speed of adding NHP is 0.2molIh, the temperature is 370t.
