On the basis of US patent and JP patent product KPP-3 14, we lay emphasis on the development of new kinds of PROTOX herbicides while referring to available raw materials and present production process Such kinds of compounds exhibit high herbicidal effects against major weeds in low-dose treatments while causing low injury to major corps , thereby assuring excellent performance as herbicides So, we design and synthesize compounds such structure as 4-imino- oxazolidine-2-one , which can be applied in soil and foliage treatments on non-ricefields , and show high herbicidal activity against various weeds Major reaction processes include hydrolysis , alkylation , isocyanation and addition cyclization by reacting aryl isocyanates with l-cyano-2-methyl-2-propen-l-ol in the presence of a base As a result , said compounds can be prepared with high yields in a short process In addition isocyanates are inexpensive starting materials which can be easily synthesized by reacting the corresponding aniline derivatives with phosgene or equivalents Moreover oxazolidinedione derivatives can be produced more economically by hydrolyzing these compounds under acidic conditions than in the conventional methods , specifically at the imino in position 4 Therefore , 4-imino-oxazolidine-2-one and oxazolidinedione derivatives with various alkyl groups probably present higher herbicidal effects as active ingredients of Protox herbicides owing to their innovative structure Such a production process may he a more efficient routine to develop new kinds of herbicides...
