Corn starch adhesives are widely used in many industries due to their advantages of low-cost and non-pollution. But there are some shortcomings need to be improved, such as instability, poor moisture resistance, etc. In the paper, some methods have been used to improve adhesive performance. The techniques include using different oxidants, gelatinization and doping by polyacrylamide and bentonite. The experimental results are as follows:The corn starch adhesive was prepared using hydrogen peroxide as oxidant. The important factors such as sodium hydroxide, hydrogen peroxide, sodium thiosulfate, borax and water have been investigated to determine the best proportion by analyzing the initial adhesion, viscosity, dry weight, gel time and the drying rate of starch adhesive. The results show that the optimum conditions are as follows: 20 g corn starch, 100 ml~140 ml water, 0.08 g Ferrous sulfate, 0.2g hydrogen peroxide, 16-18 g 10%Sodium hydroxide, 20 g 1% sodium thiosulfate and 26.66 g 1.5%borax.Under the catalysis of 10%H2SO4, the corn starch adhesive was prepared by potassium permanganate as oxidant. The important parameters such as the initial adhesion, viscosity, the drying rate and fluidity of starch adhesive were analyzed to determine the best proportion by varying the amount of sodium hydroxide, potassium permanganate, borax and water. The results show that the optimum conditions are as follow: 20 g corn starch, 160 ml water, 4-6 m L 4% potassium permanganate, 2 m L 10% sulfuric acid,40 g 10% Sodium hydroxide, and 40 g 1.0% borax. The corn starch adhesive was doped by polyacrylamide and bentonite to improve its performance. The influence of polyacrylamide and bentonite on the properties of adhesive have been investigated by analyzing the initial adhesion, viscosity, the influence of the drying rate, get damp rate and so on of starch adhesive. The results show that the add fertilizer can improve the viscosity, drying rate, and reduce its damp rate of adhesive. The dope experiment showed that the optimum conditions are as follow: m(corn starch)∶m(Na OH)∶m(H2O)∶m(H2O2)∶m(Fe SO4)∶ m(Na2S2O3)∶m(borax)∶m(polyacrylamide)∶m(bentonite)= 100∶9∶700∶2∶0.4 ∶1∶2∶0.5∶3...
