Following the Taylor system of scientific management method and the Ford production system, Toyota Production System becomes a new, revolutionary methods of production. Therefore, many international company followed the example. However, Toyota Production System has been globally recognized and accepted, it also encounter difficulties in a foreign country. This is mainly because people are familiar with the Toyota Production System on the entire technical system of production and operation activities, however, the internal "soft" and "adaptability" is often overlooked. In a word, the Toyota production system has "flexibility" for its soul.Each production management has socio-political, economic, cultural background, so as Toyota Production System. It comes from Japan's "soil" of particular social and cultural values, so the "soft" Toyota Production presents dual characteristics. On the one hand, it mobilize the enthusiasm of staff and coordination, and promote the knowledge of the horizontal flow within the enterprise. On the other hand, it makes the whole system at a certain state, with reduced capacity to environmental change. This dual characteristics are formed by Japanese "Field type" relationships and "Collectivism" personality. In a relatively stable state, "flexible production" shows the superiority. However changes in cultural background and environment situation will lead to many quality problems.From the perspective of cultural values,this paper analysis the "soft" duality characteristics of Toyota Production System and reflect on the Toyota Production System, which made Japanese companies seek the rational combination of closure and openness. This research hopes that it is helpful to our country's future management thinking, methods of introduction and development; while it is important to learn management method matched with our own culture and values, developing a road of independent innovation.The creative points in this paper are as follows:Firstly, Conducting a comprehensive reflection on Toyota Production System under the "Toyota Recalls".Secondly, Combining economics, sociology and other basic disciplines to discuss to explore the cause of the problem.Thirdly, Providing cultural thinking such as personality, relationship for the Toyota production system.
